Process Guidelines and IPECC Methodology

This page is an example of a custom page that users could add to their custom OnePlan Academy site. This page demonstrates process documentation plus a document library. These OnePlan Academy sites are highly customizable to meet your team’s learning needs.

IPECC, in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), stands for the collection of the five process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling, Closing.

Initiating

A project is found feasible, a project manager is selected, and the project charter is created.

Planning

Planning is an iterative process group that allows project managers and the project team to revisit as needed. Once the plans are in place, a baseline is created.

Executing

You’ve planned the work, now your project team works the plan. You execute the deliverables according to the agreed-upon project plan.

Controlling

You’ve got to control the work to ensure that’s it done according to plan. As you work the plan, you track actuals (project performance) against the plan and take corrective action, as needed, to keep the project on track.

Closing

The project work is complete, so you and the customer have to verify the deliverables and then close out the project finances, team reports, and lessons learned.
